Hello from Edinboro!
The summer is upon us and its start was a bit of a whirl-wind for me, as I participated in two weeks of training with the CCO, a canoe training trip and a friend’s wedding! The trainings will help me more effectively minister to college students and work within the world of higher education. I am excited about the class work I am doing in the Higher Ed. program through Geneva College as it allows me to understand college students better and engage with peers who are encountering students in different settings and in different ways. Also, throughout this summer I have the wonderful opportunity to take part in trainings with the OLT (The Outdoor Leadership Team). The OLT is a group within the CCO that focuses on providing wilderness experiences to college students in a variety of areas. The canoe trip that I participated in was a training opportunity through the OLT. I hope to continue my pursuit of these trainings in order to pursue offering wilderness experiences to students here in Edinboro. My time in college with a CCO ministry was greatly influenced by my participation in wilderness experiences. I am deeply passionate about how God can use and speak to us through the beauty, stillness and sheer wonder of the wilderness. Please keep this new aspect of ministry in your prayers.
Some of my other plans for the summer include spending time in preparation for next year. I am so excited about what God has in store for the ministry next year! All those things that were new and a bit overwhelming last year . . . I get to do again with experience!! Some of the ladies from the Potter’s House will be returning and others will be new to our community. We are all looking forward to how God wants to shape our community and how He wants to use us to reach out to our neighbors. As the summer continues these are the prayers on my heart for next year, please consider praying with me
. . . for the Potter’s House community, those who have moved on, those who will be returning and for those who will be part of our community for the first time.
. . . for incoming freshmen, that God would even now be preparing their hearts for being reached in September.
. . . for our large outreaches at the start of the fall semester, Move-In-Day, The Annual Potter’s House Pig Roast, and our Leaders’ Retreat.
. . . for God’s continued grace in the ministry here in Edinboro and my own continued obedience to his precepts and covenant in all aspects of life.
Thank you for all you have done and continue to do in the lives of students here in Edinboro and in my own life . . . you are so very appreciated!!!
Shalom
